AKIA and the EU-funded Twinning project “Strengthening the capacity of the Ministry of Agriculture to improve effectiveness and efficiency of state support to agriculture” together organized the Intermediate Meeting on August 3, 2021, in Hilton Hotel, Baku.
The purpose of the Intermediate Meeting was to present the interim results of Twinning and discuss the further steps within the project, with leading representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, AKIA (Agency for Agro Credit and Development), ARC (Agro Research Centre) and ASA (Agro Services Agency).
Ms. Ilhama Gadimova, The Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Victor Bojkov, the Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, and Mr. Seymur Movlayev, the Chairman of the Agency for Agro Credit and Development under the Ministry of Agriculture, made an opening speech.
After technical presentations held by the RTA Mr. Riccardo Passero, the panel discussion started.
Each panel featured top management of Azerbaijani institutions and experts from EU Member States (Italy, Lithuania, and Poland) who discussed the following topics:
- Working Group 1: Administration and control of area-based subsidies and alternative measures.
- Working Group 2: Livestock subsidies: proposal of alternative support.
- Working Group 3: Introduction of a Rural Development (RD) framework in Azerbaijan and improving the capacity for RD methodology, programming, and implementation.
During the meeting, representatives from EU Delegation and Azerbaijani authorities expressed their satisfaction with the event, the technical reports presented by RTA Mr. Riccardo Passero and the progress of the Twinning project so far.
